Update fields on multiple contacts

You can now update the value of list fields directly in Heyloyalty for multiple contacts at once.
This makes it easy to change data on selected contacts without exporting, correcting and importing the list again.

In this guide, you’ll learn how to select contacts, choose a field, enter a new value and confirm the update.

Before you get started

Make sure you know:

• What value to update the field to
• Which contacts to update
• Which field to change. If the field isn’t in the list, create it first.
  Learn how to create fields in the list.

Note: When you update contact data in this way, the change cannot be undone. Therefore, always check the contacts, field and value before confirming.

Step 1: Find the contacts to update

Go to the list where the contacts are located. Here, you’ll see an overview of the contacts in the list. Start by finding the contacts that need a field updated. Select the contacts you want to update.

If you want to update all contacts in the list, click Select and then select All.

Note: Only use All if you want the change to apply to all contacts in the list. It’s important to select the correct group, as the update cannot be undone.

Step 2: Choose the option to update the contacts

Once you have selected the relevant contacts, scroll down to the bottom of the page. Click Action for multiple contacts. Then select Update field on contacts.

Step 3: Set up the field update

You can now select which field in the list you want to update. Click the field selector and select the desired field.

Note: If you cannot find the field, it probably hasn’t been created in the list. Create the field in the list first, and then return to the update.

After selecting the field, enter the value you want to change the field to. The value you can enter depends on the field type.

Examples:

• Text field: Enter the text to be saved on the contact
• Number field: Enter the number to update the field with
• Date field: Select or enter the date to save
• Single-choice option: Select one of the values already set up in the field
• Multiple-choice option: Select multiple values already set up in the field

Before updating the field, you can choose how Heyloyalty should handle the update in relation to automations and integrations.

You can choose the following:

• Send update flows: Enable this if you want the update to be able to start flows based on list field updates on a contact.
• Send webhooks: Enable this if you want the change to be sent to integrations that use webhooks. If you don’t use integrations with webhooks, you can disregard the Send webhooks option.

Step 4: Update the field

Once you have chosen the settings in the previous step, click Update field.

Heyloyalty will now ask you to confirm the change.

Only confirm if:

• The correct contacts are selected
• The correct field is selected
• The new value is correct
• The Send update flows and Send webhooks settings are correct

When you confirm, Heyloyalty updates the field on the selected contacts.

Note: The more contacts you update, the longer the update takes. If you update more than a thousand contacts, the update can take more than an hour. When the label disappears from the list of updates, Heyloyalty should be done with the update.

Log of field updates

If you want to see which fields have been updated in the list, go to the account settings and select Logs.

To find updates to fields in the list, look for the list icon and the action called field updated. If you want to see which field has been updated, click the icon: </ >.

Here, you can see which field has changed and what value it has changed to, and count shows how many contacts have been updated.

You have now updated a list field on multiple contacts directly in Heyloyalty.
You can use this feature when you want to quickly change contact data in a single field in the list. You can do this for selected contacts or for the entire list.

Always remember to check the change thoroughly before confirming. Once the field is updated on the contacts, Heyloyalty cannot automatically roll back the change.
